Girl’s Crew Team

The Bville Crew Team was started by a devoted parent of one of the team’s first rowers. Donna Dooley recognized her daughter’s passion for rowing. She spent countless hours working with the school district to gain support for her dream – to start a rowing program at Baker High.

Donna’s dream came to fruition in the spring of 2000 when Baldwinsville’s crew team began competing in rowing events across the State. We finished the season winning gold medals in the novice eight division at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships. The following year, Bville repeated the accomplishment at the States. Last year our JV and lightweight boats won bronze medals, proving once again that Bville is a formidable force at the State Championships. This year we hope to continue with our streak for the forth consecutive season.

Our rowing program’s success goes beyond the hallways of Baker High School. In the four short season of our program’s existence, ten of our eighteen graduating seniors are rowing or will be rowing in college. Over 50 percent of the girls have made this sport a part of their lives. This is truly a remarkable statistic worth noting. This sport is one that demand both physical and mental endurance. But once these girls catch the fever and realize the true beauty of this outdoor sport, they cannot put their oars away. For many, this sport will take them beyond college as it has for so many Masters rowers.
